We visit the two newly opened and spectacular islands in the inner harbor: Papirøen and Operaparken.
Papirøen now houses Denmark's most expensive apartment and in the central square the Dutch landscape architects have decorated the concrete as if it were a paper cut by HC Andersen. The Opera Park is a lush island garden divided into six climate zones with a subtropical orangery in the middle, where planting stretches up towards the light from the parking garage on the floors below.
We meet at the Inderhavnsbroen at the Broens Gadekøkken and walk past the cultural center Nordatlantens Brygge and the award-winning Krøyers Plads. We pass Trangravsbroen, Papirøen, Operaparken and walk close to the Opera itself and hear about new and old in and around Holmen.
We see Kanonbådsskurene and the Torpedohallen building complex, where 67 apartments have been built in the naval station's old shipyard for motor torpedo boats, before we end the tour with a detour past the Børnebyen at Christianshavn – Denmark's largest day care institution.
Meeting point: At the Inderhavnsbroen on the Christianshavns side.
End point: By Børnebyen.
